This exhibition, in origin an initiative by the non-profit organization Curieus vzw, is organized in cooperation with HoedGekruid vzw and with the support of the pub Etcetera. Both non-profit organizations, HoedGekruid vzw and Curieus vzw, wanted to get the Brussels citizens more involved in the cities' building planning projects, including the town-planning around the canal zone. Reason why Curieus vzw organised, in the summer of 2011, a photocontest. Hoedgekruid vzw supports this initiative annex project.
Citizens from Brussel were invited to come up with a photo story about the Brussels canal. At the vernissage at Kaaitheater, on November 15th, 2011, the jury announced the winner: Filip Van Zandycke with his photo ‘Stuurloze rondvaart’. ( ' Cruising around out of control ' ).
The photosubmissions of Jean-Pierre Beké and Leen Cools were award-winning too (2nd and 3r prize).
The winning photo will be printed and distributed as a postcard and as a poster. Waywardness photos about the Brussels canal can be viewed by clicking HERE (see this site, section photos 2011 from 01/07 until 31/08).
